The Iwo Jima Memorial Arlington, VA

The Iwo Jima Memorial honors the Marines who served during that specific battle, on the island of Iwo Jima in 1945.  It's located on a hill overlooking Washington DC, in Arlington, VA, in a section of the city known as Rosslyn, just outside Ft Meyers Marine base and adjacent to a section of Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington Blvd and Meade St, Arlington, VA 22201.  It's just outside of Washington DC and is often considered a part of Washington DC.  It's free and open to the public; every day of the week, all hours.  There is no gift shops, food places, restrooms around the statue and the general public is not allowed on the base.  It's a gorgeous statue, modeled after the Pulitzer prize-winning photograph.
