August 1997 and September 2007

Lincoln Memorial Washington DC

The Lincoln Memorial is a ticket-less event.  It's free and open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week every day except December 25th. It is located at 23rd Street, NW.
Besides the monument itself here is a small museum UNDER the building and a gift shop/bookstore.  You can also find restrooms, water fountains there.  According to the website, there is food available there, though I personally did not see anything. Just in case there isn't, there are a few food vendors (carts) outside. Inside you will learn about Lincoln's life and writings. People like to sit on the steps and gaze at the reflecting pool where the Washington Monument is visible.
