Cabazon Dinosaurs Cabazon, CA

We lived in California a few years (almost 4) and loved it there. There was a lot to do.  We were stationed at March AFB, CA.  Alas, I was pregnant and in the Air Force the first year and got out when I had the baby (worked out I had the baby and came back for only ONE last day after my maternity leave ended...just so happened to correspond exactly with my end of enlistment!).  Anyway, my favorite thing there was the Swap meets on the weekends and going to the park with the kids.  We did get so see a lot of stuff there too like the San Diego and LA Zoos (when you have kids, that's what you do).

Between Riverside, CA where we lived and Palm Springs, you'll notice both the Cabazon Dinosaurs and the Windmills... I didn't take any photos of the Windmills, but I got one snapshot of the Cabazon Dinosaurs.  We never stopped there though we passed this a minimum of a dozen times.  I don't know why. I think at the time you could not go inside them. Now I think you can.  We should've stopped.  We regret that.  But here is a photo anyway!  Back then there wasn't anything to see or do there except take a photo.  Now, it's developed... it's an actually dinosaur replica (in scale and size) and it has replica cave drawings depicting dinosaurs, fossils, and a dinosaur movie. They are building a splash water park behind it now. They're making a "Dino dig" for kids who can dig for "fossils".  A neat roadside attraction where you climb in and look out the dinosaurs mouth.  There are two dinosaurs; but I think you can only go up in one.
